MEET MATT WALTON

Virginia Way Founder

PROMOTING PRAGMATIC SENSIBLE SOLUTIONS TO VIRGINIA'S PROBLEMS

Politically

 

In 2015, at 29 years old, Matt was the Republican nominee for the 74th District for a seat in the Virginia House of Delegates. During the campaign Matt met many wonderful people all the way up to the January special election day.

 

After falling short of his bid to win as a Republican in a Democratic district Matt decided to relaunch his PAC, Virginia WAY, to focus on bringing people together to find solutions to solve the problems facing the Commonwealth.

 

Even after his election loss Matt continues to be politically active, working on the 2016 Presidential campaign of        Gov. John Kasich, commenting on Politics for the blog BearingDrift.com, and advising candidates for local and state office.

Personally

 

Matt was born and raised in Rockingham County, where he was a 2004 graduate of Turner Ashby High School. While in high school Matt was active and a leader in the Technology Student Association, the track & field team, and also the scholastic bowl team. 

 

After graduating from high school Matt attended North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC where he earned both a Bachelors of Science and a Masters of Education in Technology Education ('08 & '10).  While at NC State, Matt was a student senator representing the College of Education and also the editor of the editorial section of the student newspaper The Technician.  During his first two years at NC State Matt work for the sports media relations department on campus.  

 

After returning to the Old Dominion post-graduation Matt was hired by Henrico County Public Schools where he continues to work at Glen Allen High School as a Technology & Engineering Education teacher and track coach.
